The Book Recording Mac’s Landmark Icons: Susan Kare Icons
I believe that many people are not strange to Susan Kare’s art works, but rarely link her to Apple’s early computer logo. Recently, Kare released a new book “Susan Kare Icons”, in which she told us the 80 favorite icons she designed from 1983 to 2011. Mac tip:

Susan Kare is a member of Macintosh software team, taking charge of designing the user interface icons and fonts. The icons they designed are more user-friendly, they put the feelings into the Mac to let them have a distinct personality. They provides a new way for the communication between the machine and the user, they can convey information without text.
Jobs himself did not specifically point out Kare’s art works, but Kare said: “Steve Jobs will certainly see all the optional stuff and express his own preferences. We often joked that anything showed to him is not good, because he would refuse these things we showed, if there are only a few icons, he will also abandon one part and only select part. What’s hot:

This is the “Alert” icon her designed for the Classic Mac OS. This icon will appear with the alarm sounds and the dialog with notification.
When Classic Mac OS system crashes, the Bomb icon will appear in the System Error dialog box.
Happy Mac icon is her work in the early 1980s, it lets The Computer have its own expression. Classic Mac OS’s startup icon sets a very friendly tone. Before the introduction of the PowerPC Mac, Apple has been using the startup icon.
Sad Mac icon, implying that there is a serious Hardware or software problem which causes the computer can not start. At the same time there will be a string of hexadecimal codes which tell the user the type of problems. Mac related:

Ray Charles Live – In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony $1.77 There’s no such thing as a bad song as long as it’s sung by the late Ray Charles, and Live at the Jubilee Auditorium Canada offers yet more irrefutable evidence of that. This concert, recorded in 1981, has its flaws; it’s brief (48 minutes, no bonus features), and hearing Charles with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a big, formal venue with a rather listless audience isn’t exactly ideal. But Ch… |
